Windows are an architectural requirement for any home or office because people require daylight for a variety of reasons. We want to know and see what's outside, whether it's the Rocky Mountains or a crowded New York City street. Daylight also provides numerous health benefits, such as increased productivity and mental stimulation. However, the windows that let in sunlight have some drawbacks. They are typically the most inefficient part of the building envelope, allowing the sun's heat in during the summer and allowing man-made heat to escape to the outside during the winter. They are also the most vulnerable part of the building envelope because glass is more easily broken than other building materials such as concrete, brick, wood, or metal.

Energy Efficiency / Sun Control

3M™ Insulating / Sun Control Window Film slows the rate of heat transfer through glass. It lowers a window's Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), which increases the amount of incident energy from the sun (ultraviolet, visible light, infrared) reflected and absorbed by the window, reducing what is transmitted inside. It also lowers a window's U-Value, which increases the amount of man-made heat that is reflected back inside, reducing what is lost outside. This improved solar control results in lower utility bills, increased personal comfort, reduced glare, and reduced fading.

Our 3M™ solar window film has been rigorously tested to ensure that it will successfully protect your home or business. We've tested our film beyond industry standards for durability, subjecting it to the harshest weather conditions, so you can rely on it.

3M™ heat control window film installation can provide a variety of benefits, including increased energy efficiency, reduced glare, and improved comfort. It can be a cost-effective alternative to replacing old or inefficient windows, and it can help prolong the life of your HVAC system by reducing the amount of heat it needs to manage.

These inefficiencies and vulnerabilities are addressed by 3M™ Window Film, which was first patented in 1966.
